About Reel Film Safety

My Background

I entered the film industry in 1989/1990 and  transitioned to construction safety in 2010 specializing in High Rise & Multi unit; Industrial Plants; Mining & oil & gas sectors. Certified in EMR, OFA3 and NCSO, I merged this expertise into film industry safety in 2015.  Our team comprises seasoned safety consultants, offering comprehensive service: industry compliance, hazard identification, risk mitigation, orientations & training, and on set safety management. SO MANY REGULATORY BODIES...

Does your advisor have an understanding of the applicable regs for the type of work we are doing? From written fall protection plans to pre job hazard meetings, your safety advisor needs to know any pertinent regulations for many different areas.  Effective communication of these regs and up to date paperwork, should WSBC, or other regulatory body need to see it.

**Not only do we have  a good working knowledge of these regs we  stay current in terms of any recent amendments to them.

New hazards at every location...

GOOD TO HAVE A HEALTHY  SKEPTICISM..

It is important to verify your potential client's credentials & experience. If they say they have 15 or 20 years experience, why does it appear that  they only have 1 or 2 actual years of experience?  Where did they complete these other  "years of experience" and  if so, why are they not highlighting this on their resume? If they have taken  shortcuts to advance before they are ready, what other shortcuts are they willing to take?  A  truly qualified  safety advisor should be  happy to verify their education &  past work in both  film and in other areas of OH & S safety.   Myself & my team have been well vetted and I work closely with productions  to provide excellent safety advisement from day 1.

Planes, Trains  and Automobiles.. While unfortunately  no one knows absolutely everything, it is helpful to have an excellent working knowledge  in multiple areas to provide pertinent safety advisement regardless of the situation. Beyond any location's specific safety rules, it is also critical to stay relevant to changes in  regulations &  municipal bylaws that  may affect us and  the best practices to support production in these evolving areas.   My CV & other RFS consultant's CV's are regularly being updated with courses & experience. Reel Film Safety Ltd carries the legal obligatory insurance  & WSBC coverage for any additional consultants.

  Recent Full length Features

"Recently I produced a feature that employed Greg as the safety consultant.  He assisted in keeping us in compliance in an out of Province production which meant following all of their local WCB regulations.  He was proactive for each stage of production in dealing with safety concerns so that each department head could focus on their individual goals and objectives.

He was very active in prep including location scouts, surveys, production meetings and later for on set filming days.  Whatever concerns we faced it was helpful to know we had full time safety with knowledge and experience and who communicated in a collaborative, positive manner.  He was able to address any needs or concerns efficiently and thereby helped to minimize any potential costly delays. I recommend you consider him for your next project." ---M Ewing Producer-- "Prey"
